October 2022 Newsletter - Season's Closing Out

Updated: Mar 4, 2023

PERTH WATER SPORTS CLUB 2022 – Season's Closing Out! Hello all – it was great to see a few of you at the club this year! But unfortunately the club has been on the quieter side this year, so we thought we would get in touch to highlight a few things as we near the end of the year.

With memberships being low over the past few years and as such the club’s finances reducing at an alarming rate, we would now consider the club to be running on financial reserves. With this in mind, we currently see the best-case scenario for the club being it closing at the end of 2024. Therefore, it is all the more important that next year, if you are intending on joining the club, we need your memberships in at the start of the season so the club can correctly budget and continue for as long as possible. Bare in mind the earlier you join, the more you get to enjoy to the club. As well as this we need all members to pay for guests who come to the club if they enter the water!

We are introducing a sign in sheet within the clubhouse for all users to sign themselves and their guests in upon arrival. This includes all those who are on the pontoon, on a boat, or in the water must sign in.

The committee is also looking for members to come forth to take on responsibility within the club. There are currently only 3 active members running all the admin, finance, memberships, and maintenance for the club and have been doing so for 10 years. If the club is to continue the committee also needs to grow with new people.

This year there has been a little confusion regarding boat insurances therefore we are requesting that all those members with boats check their insurance for whether it specifically states that it covers water sports. We believe a few members may not be covered for water sports and we will be reaching out to them for clarification, but it is your responsibility to ensure you are covered for the worst-case scenario! Due to this need for specific water sports coverage on your boat insurances, we require your memberships and insurance documents approved prior to attending the club. We need time as a committee to ensure your insurance documents are acceptable then we are the ones who issue door codes and keys to allow members access to the water.

If members are interested in attending our usual quiz night, then may you please get in touch to let us know which dates you would attend of either Friday the 11th or 18th of November and we can get it organised.

SINCERELY,

YOUR COMMITTEE
